John “Ed” Easley

John “Ed” Easley currently serves as President of Quarterra Development & Construction.

Ed Easley joined Lennar Multifamily Communities in 2012 as Western Regional President. Before retiring in 2023, he served as President of Development and Construction for Quarterra (fka LMC), managing US Development and Construction Operations for the company’s $12B, 41K unit portfolio and is based in Austin, TX. Ed started his real estate career in 1973 after graduating from the University of Texas in Austin.

In 1996, Easley established a San Diego office for JPI and quickly expanded its California operations to include the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Orange County and the Inland Empire. Easley established JPI as one of California’s most dynamic multifamily developers. In 2000, Easley opened a Canadian Division in Toronto, Canada for JPI and its investment partner GE Capital. Under his direction, JPI entitled and developed two signature high rise residential communities in downtown Toronto. During his tenure, he was responsible for developing over 6000 units worth $1B.

In 2001, Easley was asked to serve on JPI’s Operating Committee and expand his oversight to include JPI’s Western/International Division. As co-chairman of the Operating Committee, Easley helped provide strategic and operational oversight for JPI’s nationwide operations.

In 2003, Easley founded Crown Pacific Properties with his former JPI California Regional Partner, Greg Anderson. The company promptly built a portfolio of value-added multifamily properties in California, Arizona and Washington. Crown Pacific Properties enjoyed a strategic investment relationship with both AEW and The Carlyle Group, who provided the bulk of the capital for CPP’s portfolio.

In 2006, Easley recognized that the markets were peaking and made the strategic decision to sell all CPP’s assets, as well as the operating company. The Picerne Group purchased the CPP operating company and created its subsidiary, TPG Residential. Easley became the new subsidiary’s President and served on the Board until his departure in 2008.

Previously (1979-1990), Easley was a partner in Dallas-based Windsor Properties where he also served as President and CEO. During his tenure there, he developed and operated properties in Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and Nevada.

Easley just completed a 4-year term as Chairman of the NAHB Multifamily Leadership Board and currently serves as Chairman Emeritus. Easley is a full member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI).
