FELLOWSHIPS AND GRANTS

McCombs Entrepreneurship Summer Fellowships

The MESF is funded by the generous support of alumni donors and the Herb Kelleher Center. It enables innovative students to continue their entrepreneurial journey as startup founders throughout the summer, by awarding seed funding and a co-working space membership.

The Fellowship is open to McCombs First Year MBA and Undergraduate students (four semesters of undergrad coursework required) who are actively working on a startup.

Startup Business Plan Travel Grants

HKC funded travel grants allow undergraduate and graduate students to participate in national and international business startup competitions and share their vision with the world.

Grant applications must be submitted by the last day of the month in order to receive a grant by the 15th of the following month. Only one $750 travel grant will be awarded per startup per year. All current, UT Austin undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply. Teams must publish social media marketing in partnership with the HKC while using grant funding.

At DisrupTexas 2018, I had a great experience competing and learned a lot from other entrepreneurs and mentors.

We won a $5K grant for our startup Swayy through the Summer Fellowship. This was the first grant we ever won, and it was pivotal in helping us get our startup off the ground. This past year we won $25K through Longhorn Startup Lab, and we definitely couldn't have gotten to the point that made that possible without the initial grant from Kelleher Center.

Last year, I traveled to San Francisco to attend the annual tech and entrepreneurship conference AfroTech. The travel grant allowed me to join thousands of black engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders gather to talk about tech, and network with other entrepreneurs.
